Victoria Taylor Alvarez and Natalie Kahn
surrounded a mound of sand (representing the feminine/divine) with red
lava rocks to form a meditation space relating to ancient teachings
from Native American to Buddhist. Both are Los Angeles based artists.

of renewal found in natural resources such as the River, we are creating

Clean Is Not Pure/Pure Is Not CleanCraig
Arteaga-Johnson collected discarded clothing downtown which he washed
and dried on the riverbank. The clothes were then returned to their
original locations. Arteaga-Johnson is an artist and also serves
as Director of Exhibitions at Side Street Projects.

the LA River as impaired or not meeting standards for pH and
pollutants. Synonyms for this term were posted by the collaborative
artist team of Davis and Davis. Their plexiglass signs contained
river water.
