One Ten, Two Fives, and Fifty Ones, 1998 U.S. Currency.

The stack of money was placed two feet out of arms reach in a secured area. The installation was designed to test the notion of community and trust within the arts exhibition scenario. How long would it take before someone would steal the money? What contraption would the viewer assemble to reach the money? The amount $70 is about how much I spend on the average two dimensional piece of art. The money was removed after the third day of the exhibition.

Biography

Joe Sola works in video and installation. His videos have been exhibited around the world, most recently at the Brooklyn Museum of Art in New York, and The Museum of Image and Sound in Sau Paulo, Brazil. He has received many awards including an award from the Jerome Foundation. He is working on his master's degree at Otis College of Art and Design.
