"Well, the factor of spending your last day of your life in a cell. And they're trying to make it pleasant for you, so they gave you a radio to listen to, and they had a cat in there as a companion, and you could choose your last meal of the day. It was surprising because I was just a kid then and you never saw anything like this before and to see the electric chair that was surprising, similar to the one we have here in the museum, an old straight back chair with the wires on it. It was shocking at that age especially, because I was about 17 at that time."
